Who are the Ten Promised Paradise?
Prophet Muhammad PBUH promised many of his companions that they would enter Paradise, but he specifically mentioned 10 of them in one hadith:
Abdur Rahman ibn ‘Awf reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Abu Bakr is in Paradise. Umar is in Paradise. Uthman is in Paradise. Ali is in Paradise. Talhah is in Paradise. Al-Zubayr is in Paradise. Abdur Rahman ibn ‘Awf is in Paradise. Sa’d is in Paradise. Sa’id is in Paradise. 1- Abu Bakr al-Seddiq
The virtue of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq that made him one of the Ten Promised Paradise is undeniable since he was the first man to believe in the message of the Prophet Muhammad, which is how he got the nickname al-Siddiq. He was the closest companion and a major supporter of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. His daughter Aisha was one of the Prophet’s wives and close to his heart. He was also the first Islamic caliph.
His sacrifice for the sake of spreading the message of Islam, including donating his entire charity during the Battle of Tabuke, among many other righteous acts, made him one of the ten companions promised paradise. His service of the religion continued after he became a caliph since he extinguished the uprising of apostates.
2- Umar ibn al-Khattab
After accepting Islam, Umar ibn al-Khattab was a major source of support for his fellow Muslims because, through his strength in many aspects, Muslims were able to publicly practice their faith. He was also the second caliph after al-Siddiq, and he continued to show firmness in implementing justice and fighting falsehood, as he was nicknamed al-Farooq.

3- Uthman bin Affan
His nickname was Dhu-Nurain owing to the fact that he married two of the Prophet’s daughters, Ruqiyyahh and Umm Kalthum.
He was the third Islamic caliph and was known for his piety and generosity as well as his contributions to the preservation of the Quran and the expansion of the Islamic state. His remarkable attributes made him one of the Ten Promised Paradise.
4- Ali Ibn Abi Talib
He did not gain the honor of being one of the Ten Promised Paradise through his blood ties with the Prophet PBUH (being his cousin and son-in-law) but through his bravery, even as a young kid, when he protected Prophet Muhammad from the hands of the disbelievers by sleeping in his bed. He played a crucial role in establishing Islamic jurisprudence.
5- Talha Ibn Ubaidullah
Known as the “living martyr”, he showed incredible bravery in many battles, like the battle Uhud and he sacrificed his life for the sake of Allah SWT and His message. His legacy of courage was evident when he used his own body as a shield to guard the Prophet from the arrows of the enemy.
6- Zubair Ibn Al-Awwam
He was famous for his bravery as al-Thawry named him one of three brave companions, including Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib and Ali ibn Abi Talib. His generosity is also evident in his providing for the families of some companions, such as Uthman and Ibn Massoud, after their deaths.
He participated in the Battle of Yarmoul and played a pivotal role in defeating the enemy, in addition to standing up for Uthman ibn Affan.
7- Abdur Rahman Bin Auf
He was one of the companions who migrated to Abyssinia and later to Medina. He witnessed the Battle of Badr and other battles afterwards. His incredible philanthropy was perceived in his donation of half his money and then large amounts after that for the sake of Allah SWT, which made him one of the Ten Promised Paradise.
8- Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas
In addition to being one of the Ten Promised Paradise, he was one of the first to embrace Islam and the first companion to have shot an arrow for the sake of Allah SWT. He took part in the battles of Bard and others. His service for Islam did not end with the death of Prophet Muhammad, as he was the governor of al-Koofa in the time of Umar and majorly contributed to the expansion of the Islamic state. He was the last of the ten promised paradise to die.
9- Saeed Ibn Zayd
He was one of the earliest people to embrace the religion of Islam and a courageous fighter in the battles of Badr and others. Ibn Zayd was known for his firmness of faith.
10- Abu Ubaida ibn Al-Jarrah
His nickname, ‘Amin Al-Ummah,’ or the ‘Ummah’s caretaker, was awarded to him by Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Due to his numerous virtues, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq recommended him, along with Umar, to succeed him as a caliph. He lost his front teeth when he tried to extract a ring from the Prophet’s cheeks. He died of the plague during the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab.
